Echoes of the Past

About Love, Mystery, and Life
Echoes of the Past is a collection of poems that pays homage to some of the most iconic writers of the past.
Each poem in this collection is inspired by the works of Jane Austen, Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe, Mary
Shelley, Arthur Conan Doyle, and many others.
The poems explore themes of love, loss, death, mental struggle, feminism, leadership, and the supernatural.
They are written in various forms and styles, ranging from sonnets to free verse, and from hauntingly dark to whimsical light.

In “Emma’s Lament,” inspired by Jane Austen’s novel
Emma, we hear the voice of the protagonist mourning
the loss of her dear friend and wondering if she ever
truly understood her. In “The Belle of Amherst,”
inspired by Emily Dickinson’s poetry, we glimpse the
poet’s solitary world and her struggle to connect with
others.
In “The Raven’s Call,” inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s
poem “The Raven,” we are transported to a dark and
eerie world where a bird’s incessant cawing drives the
narrator to the brink of madness. In “The Monster’s
Bride,” inspired by Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein,
we witness the heartbreaking tale of the creature’s
search for love and acceptance.
